Our leadership is composed of men and women, committed to helping the people of Cross & Crown grow in their faith and love of Jesus Christ through teaching, leading and serving.

Matthias HAEUSEL Lead Pastor

Originally from Frankfurt, Germany, Pastor Matthias grew up in a God-fearing home and was saved at an early age. He felt a strong pull towards being a missionary to the US since he was sixteen. Along the way he has done everything from commanding a tank in the German Army to washing windows to put himself through school, including a master’s program at Grace Theological Seminary.

After serving as a missionary in over 16 countries—and meeting his wife in Hawaii and proposing to her in Costa Rica—Matthias made his way to the States by way of pastoring a church in California and planting a church in Austin, Texas.

Eventually he, his wife, and his four children came to Seattle. After pastoring Mars Hill Church in the heart of Seattle’s downtown, he became pastor at Cross & Crown. Even though he’s been all over the world, Matthias’s heart for Seattle is undeniable, he is even beginning to root for the Seahawks — despite the fact that he prefers the football you play with your feet.

Adam Christiansen Executive Pastor

A Washingtonian through and through, Adam came to Seattle from Spokane in 1998 to earn a degree in architecture from the University of Washington. In 2003, Adam met Jesus while attending church as a non-believer. In 2005, he met his now wife Heather, with whom he has three children: his son Cope and his daughters Adelaide and Brighton. Adam came on staff with Mars Hill in 2009 to serve as the Community Groups Director and wore many hats, eventually stepping into the role of Executive Pastor at Mars Hill Ballard in 2013. When he’s away from the office, you may be able to find Adam working on his house, making Saturday morning crepes, enjoying an infrequent game of golf, or taking his kids on an adventure.

Now Adam serves as the Executive Pastor of Cross and Crown Church.

Cam Huxford Worship Pastor

Pastor Cam Huxford serves Cross & Crown as Worship Pastor and leader of the band Ghost Ship.

He worked at a large church in Louisville before moving to Seattle in 2007. He is married to Hailey and together they have two sons and two daughters.

Simon Price

Simon Price  Community Groups Pastor

Simon grew up in the Bay Area. He had no exposure to Jesus growing up until high school when Jesus got a hold of his heart through a youth pastor who reached out and discipled him. He met his wife Annette in 1994 and they served with youth and young adults at Calvary Church Los Gatos over a span of 11 years before hearing the call on his life to serve in full time ministry.

At this point they had two boys, Hawk and Hudson, when they packed up and moved to southern California in 2006 where Simon served as the middle school pastor, overseeing the youth department, serving on executive staff, preaching at the alternative Sunday service and started a college ministry. During this time he received his Masters from Grace Theological Seminary and he and Annette had their third son, Huntley.

In 2011, Simon, Annette and a group of families felt lead to plant a church. He served as the Lead Pastor at Soma Community Church for over 5 years before being called to serve in Seattle at Cross & Crown Church.

Brent Capatch

Brent Capatch  Kids Ministry Director

Brent is originally from the South Puget Sound area here in Washington. He did not grow up in the church but was saved in his high school years. While pursuing a career in firefighting he responded to the call to full time ministry, and later received his Masters from Covenant Bible Seminary. Brent met his wife Leia while serving in ministry together, and they have three children; Charlize, Caedmon, and Elizabeth. Brent served as the Children’s Ministry Director at Calvary Community Church for 12 years, and later went on to serve as the Children’s Ministry Director at Mars Hill Church Downtown. This later led Brent and his family to join the team at Cross & Crown as the Kids Ministry Director.

Brent and his family love the outdoors and when they are not serving together in Kids Ministry are outside enjoying their favorite activities with each change of the seasons.

Kirby LanglEy   Elder & Board Member

Kirby is originally from South Carolina, is married to Alexis and has three daughters Jazlynn, Rebekah and Naomi. Kirby moved to Washington with his wife, Alexis, several years ago to intern at a church in Seattle. Now he works at Pushpay and has faithfully served as a lay elder and board member since the beginning of Cross & Crown.

Rick grew up in rural Sacramento Valley in a nominally Christian home. He met Cheri in a nominally Christian college in Southern California. They married and continued to attend a church Cheri had started attending before they met.

Rick had an opportunity to study in Singapore to work on an MA in Asian history. The adventure God had in mind for them was well beyond school. It was there that they were both discipled by Navigators Ministry, and other missionaries, missing their kids who had returned to the states for school. It was here they both heard the strong message that their walk was more about surrendering than doing. The message Rick and Cheri heard was “the just shall live by faith” (Gal 3:11). That’s when they joined into some missionary work there serving nationals and ex pats.

Returning to the states, Rick and Cheri continued to be discipled by the Navigators Ministry. Their daughters, Robin and Traci, were born in southern California before relocating to Seattle to be near Cheri’s family. They’re now the grandparents to three grandchildren.

Over time, Rick and Cheri have served the church body in youth ministry, various boards and teaching. They’ve been leaders in community groups, premarital counseling, and other ministries at their previous church, and continue to serve Cross & Crown in the same ways. Rick finished his eldership process at Cross & Crown shortly after its founding.

Rick and Cheri have both served in various ministries at Cross & Crown. Rick serves on the elder board as a lay pastor.

BO ROHLFSEN  Board Member

Bo is originally from the Midwest, completing his education at Iowa State University. Until his second year of college in the summer of 2002, he had minimal exposure to Jesus growing up. It was during this time that his heart was stirred towards Jesus when Bo was saved.

He moved to Seattle in 2004, starting a career in the tech industry, where he is still involved. In 2005, he met his wife Olga, with whom he has four children: Aviva, Titus, Caeli and Isabella.

Since the inception of Cross & Crown, Bo has served as Community Groups Coach, Community Group Leader and now serves on the board.

Chae was born in South Korea and moved to the U.S. when he was five years old. He grew up in the Tacoma area where he and his family attended a Korean-American church. He was saved at the age of fourteen and in that same year, purchased his first guitar and began serving the church in music.

He played in various Seattle bands in his 20’s and into his 30’s, but always had roots in congregational church music. He was involved with the music at Mars Hill Church where he met his wife, Amy. They now have three boys and have set their roots in Seattle to serve the people of Cross & Crown Church and the greater community.

Though not Amish, Erin grew up in the heart of Amish country in eastern Pennsylvania. She and her family moved to the Puget Sound in the middle of her senior year of high school. She graduated college with a degree in Theatre Management and moved back to Seattle, finding work as a legal secretary after discovering that theatre wasn’t quite as lucrative as one might hope. As she became more involved in the church she attended, she felt the call to vocational ministry and worked in various roles at her church from 2007 to 2015.

Erin joined Cross & Crown in the summer of 2015 and happened to meet her now husband, Joey, at the first community group she attended. The two were married in 2018 and are eagerly anticipating the birth of their first child.

With 10+ years of Executive Assistant and Office Management experience, Erin joined the staff of Cross & Crown in 2019.

Growing up in New Hampshire, Alexis spent every Sunday “checking the box” as she attended church with her family.  She always was intrigued by the gospel, but never had a foundation of a personal relationship with the Lord. In 2002, Alexis graduated from Temple University, in Philadelphia, with a business degree. After moving to South Carolina in pursuit of a masters degree, Alexis started attending a bible-loving church where her relationship with the Lord deepened and she eventually met her now husband, Kirby.

Alexis and her husband moved to Seattle in 2010 to serve and intern at Mars Hill Church. She has always had a heart for women and started serving in Women’s Ministry in 2012. Alexis is honored to serve as the Women’s Ministry Director since the beginning of Cross & Crown. She continues to love learning the Bible with other women and is surrounded by an amazing women’s leadership team.

Alexis and her husband Kirby have two daughters, Rebekah and Naomi along with her step-daughter Jazlynn. Whenever possible, Alexis loves drinking good coffee, laughing with friends, and running in her neighborhood. While she does cheer for the Seahawks and Mariners, Alexis is an avid sports fan for all things New England.
